Zhu Wei-ping, survivor of Nanjing Massacre, died at 7:15pm on November 16th, 2019 at the age of 91. Till now, only 80 survivors are alive who have been registered with the Aid Association of Victims in Nanjing during the War of Aggression against China by Japanese Invaders.
Testimony
In the year of 1937, Zhu Wei-ping, being nine years old, lived in a compound occupied by many households at the intersection of Yujia Lane and Lujia Lane in Qinhuai District, Nanjing. At that time, he was studying in the old-style private school.
When Nanjing Massacre happened, the whole family rushed in panic, seeking refuge in a camp at the intersection of Shenjuren Lane and Cibeishe in Gulou District, Nanjing. Using reed mats, they built a small tent within the camp and had to sleep on the grass in the tent into which the wind blew in the chilly winter. What they ate was only watery congee with no vegetables, let alone meat.
During the Massacre, Zhu Wei-ping saw several corpses of war prisoners of China piled up in a small pond outside the refugee camp. He also saw the dead bodies of some Kuo Ming Tang soldiers tied to the telegraph pole.
May he rest in peace
