The “Aid Association of Victims in Nanjing during the War of Aggression against China by Japanese Invaders”, i.e. the former “Aid Association of Survivors in Nanjing Massacre” (hereinafter referred to as the “Association”), was established on August 14, 2004. It is a social welfare civil society organization which aims to “concern the victims of war and aid the witnesses to history”.
The survivors of Nanjing Massacre are victims of the history of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese invaders, and they are also persuasive witnesses to the history of Nanjing Massacre. Over the years, the survivors have spread the historical truth with their personal experiences of being hurt and made important contributions to the maintenance of historical facts. Since its establishment, the Association has raised aid funds through all kinds of channels and has helped a large number of survivors of Nanjing Massacre who were having difficulties in life. Besides, the Association helped recording these aged survivors in audios and videos, sorting out their testimonies and implementing the excavation and storage work of historical materials and archives. Each year, hundreds of survivors and their families will be invited to participate in the sacrificial ceremony on Tomb-Sweeping Day, the activities at Mid-Autumn Festival, Double Ninth Festival, and the National Memorial Day, the “Peace Assembly”, Testimony Assembly, and other different kinds of conferences and activities. The Association also organizes survivors to go abroad to tell the history of Nanjing Massacre at testimony assemblies in Japan, America and many other places. They always express the appeal for peace, making more people understand the history of Nanjing Massacre.
