Journal of Japanese Invasion of China and Nanjing Massacre
The Journal of Japanese Invasion of China and Nanjing Massacre is a professional academic journal (quarterly) publicly distributed both domestically and internationally. It is supervised by the Publicity Department of the Nanjing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, sponsored by The Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre Victims by Japanese Invaders and Nanjing Publishing House, and supported academically by Institute for National Memory and International Peace Studies and The Research Association of the History of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. The journal was officially launched in 2018, evolving from its predecessors, the collected works Nanjing Massacre History Research and Japanese Invasion of China History Research. Adhering to the correct editorial direction, the journal focuses on the forefront of academia while maintaining its professional characteristics. Its content covers research on the Nanjing Massacre, Japanese aggression against China, the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, as well as studies on cultural relics and historical documents. Since its inception, the journal’s academic influence has grown steadily, with over 40 articles reprinted by leading publications such as Xinhua Digest, Social Sciences Digest, Reprinted Materials of Renmin University, and China University Academic Abstracts. It has been selected as a "Source Journals of Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI)," a "New Core Journal of the China Humanities and Social Sciences Journal AMI Comprehensive Evaluation," an "Important Source Journal for Reproduced Articles," one of the "Most Popular Journals of the National Center for Philosophy and Social Sciences Documentation," and one of the "First Batch of Young Scholar-Friendly Journals." In 2021, the journal’s editorial department was honored with the "Third Jiangsu Provincial Government Award for Journalism and Publishing—Outstanding News and Publishing Unit Award."
Building on the foundation of its Chinese edition, since 2019, the journal has selected academic research on the Nanjing Massacre and other related topics, and successively launched translated editions in English, Japanese, and French. These foreign-language editions are publicly distributed in over 50 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Canada, Australia, Brazil, and South Africa. Their reach extends to more than 420 internationally renowned universities and libraries, such as Harvard University in the U.S., the University of Oxford in the U.K., Ritsumeikan University in Japan, the Library of Congress in the U.S., and the British Library. Additionally, they are circulated among over 200 Japanese friendship organizations and individuals, including the Japan-China Friendship Association and the History Educators Association of Japan; more than 140 overseas bookstores, such as CYPRESS BOOKS in the U.S.; and over 30 international cultural museums, memorial sites, and peace institutions, including the Memorial de Caen in France. The foreign-language editions also reach overseas scholars, friendly individuals, and Chinese communities abroad, contributing to the international dissemination of historical facts about the Nanjing Massacre. The foreign-language editions were honored with the "CTTI 2024 Grand Prize for Outstanding Think Tank Research Achievements."
