On August 25, the first “Seminar on Nanjing Massacre History Research by Young Scholars” was held in Nanjing. The seminar was hosted by the Memorial Hall and the School of History of Nanjing University, and organized by the Research Society of the History of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, Journal of Japanese Invasion of China and Nanjing Massacre, and the Institute of National Memory and International Peace (formerly known as the Institute of Nanjing Massacre History and International Peace). More than 70 experts and scholars attended the meeting. They come from various universities, research and education institutions, and memorial halls, including Nanjing University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Renmin University of China, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University, Beijing Normal University, Nanjing Normal University, Hunan Normal University, Ocean University of China, Beijing International Studies University, Changzhou University, Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, The Second Historical Archives of China, Jiangsu Provincial Archives, Nanjing Municipal Archives, The People’s Liberation Army Naval Command College, and the Memorial Hall.

The attendees unanimously agreed that young scholars should take over the responsibility for carrying out research on the history of the Nanjing Massacre. They called for efforts to work on academic research, raise international awareness of the history of the Nanjing Massacre, and jointly make new breakthroughs in relevant research.
