On July 6, on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the outbreak of the comprehensive Anti-Japanese War, the “Research and Historical Materials of Japanese Invasion of China --- Symposium for the Publishing of the Historical Materials Series on Japan’s Decision of Invasion to China” was held at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. The symposium was sponsored by the Research Institute of Nanjing Massacre History & International Peace, the Research Society of the History of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, and the editorial office of the Journal of Japanese Invasion of China and Nanjing Massacre, and was organized by the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. Experts and scholars from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Jiangsu Provincial Academy of Social Sciences, Peking University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Nanjing Normal University, and other institutions and universities gathered in Jinling, and carried out in-depth discussions on such topics as the excavation and research of historical materials about Japan’s invasion to China and the establishment of the Historical Materials Series on Japan’s Decision of Invasion to China.

The Historical Materials Series on Japan’s Decision of Invasion to China was compiled by Xu Yong and Zang Yunhu, professors of Peking University, and it took 37 scholars of China and Japan 8 years to complete the final compilation. Then it was published by Social Sciences Academic Press in December 2017 and launched in April 2018. The series consists of 46 volumes, divided into 4 parts and 17 special topics. It is by far the domestic thematic historical data collection of the category of Japanese invading China, with the longest length of content and the most complete historical data collection. The publication and distribution of this series is of great significance for the in-depth study of the history of Japanese militarism war of aggression against China.
