Nanjing Massacre History Research Association
On August 14, 1995, The Research Association of the History of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders was established, affiliated with the Memorial Hall of the Nanjing Massacre Victims by Japanese Invaders. It is the earliest academic organization in China dedicated to the study of the history of the Nanjing Massacre. Composed of experts and social workers in Nanjing who engage in research on the Nanjing Massacre and related issues, it is an academic, non-profit, and regional social group. The main purpose of the association is to advance research on the Nanjing Massacre and the history of Japanese wartime atrocities, uphold historical truth, conduct patriotic education, and carry out international exchanges for peace and friendship, thereby contributing to peace and development for humankind. The association operates under the guidance and management of its supervisory unit, the Nanjing Federation of Social Sciences Circles, and the registration administration authority, the Nanjing Civil Affairs Bureau. In February 2023, the Sixth Congress of Members was convened, at which a new council was elected. The current president is Professor Zhang Sheng from the School of History at Nanjing University.
