The “Zijin Grass Lecture Peace Hall” Opens in the Memorial Hall
On the afternoon of March 20, 2018, the "Zijin Grass Peace Lecture Hall" was opened at the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. The Peace Lecture Hall was hosted by the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, and was organized by the Research Society of the History of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders and the Research Institute of Nanjing Massacre History & International Peace.
The Peace Lecture Hall is scheduled to hold near 20 lectures throughout the year, in which it plans to invite authoritative experts and young scholars at home and abroad to conduct face-to-face exchanges with the public on Sino-Japanese relations, the history of the War of Resistance, the history of the Nanjing Massacre, and the issue of "Comfort Women".
Zhang Jianjun, curator of the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders, introduced the main objective of holding the “Zijin Grass Peace Lecture Hall”, he said: “The education on history for the public, especially for the adolescent society, is very important. Zijin Grass is a symbol of peace. We hope that through this peace lecture hall, we will continue to promote the popularization of historical education, guide the public to turn this history into national memory, and then create a feeling of home and country, cherishing the peace of the moment, and inspiring the spirit and willingness to build a great motherland.”
The Memorial Hall specially invited Professor Zhang Sheng, President of the Research Society of the History of Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders and Dean of the School of History, Nanjing University, to give an academic lecture on the topic of History in Three Keys: The Visiting to Nanjing of Matsui Iwane (松井石根) and Its Responsibility as the first lecture in the Zijin Grass Peace Lecture Hall. The report provided an in-depth analysis of the visiting to Nanjing by Matsui Iwane (松井石根), the commander of Japanese Central China Area Army and the Class A war criminal, as well as his war responsibility. The lecture attracted more than 100 spectators to attend.
