Nearly 100 Chinese Students who Were Going abroad Learned a lesson at the Memorial Hall
On June 17, nearly 100 students from the international department of Jiangning Branch of High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University came to the Memorial Hall to attend the "lesson before going abroad" of Zijin Grass International Peace School.
At 9 a.m., 12 student representatives divided into two groups rang the peace bell at the Public Memorial Square. Later, all the students visited Exhibition of Historical Facts on the Nanjing Massacre. Under the guidance of the narrator, they stepped into the deep historical memories.
At the Peace Square, students met Ge Fengjin, son of Nanjing Massacresurvivor Ge Daorong. Ge Fengjin told about the tragic experience of his father's childhood to everyone. Not only many of his relatives died, his right leg was stabbed by the Japanese soldierafter he protected his younger brother and sister. Ge Fengjin sent wishes to the students: "A happy life is not easily-won; I hope you repay the motherland with what you have learned."
In the afternoon, Shang Yuanyuan, a lecturer of Zijin Grass International Peace School and a teacher of Nanjing Foreign Language School, taught the students a lesson “Motivation behind Rescue” in English. Through text and video materials,she introduced the stories of John Rabe and other international friends who stood out to help the refugees.
At the end of the course, Ling Xi, deputy director of the Memorial Hallpresented the "Messengers of Peace" certificates to the students, hoping that they could spread the "Voice of Nanjing" and "Voice of China" to the world on their way to study!
