Purple Grass International Peace School Rang the Bell of Peace
This morning, 12 international students from the Italian Class of Nanjing University came to the Memorial to attend the 24th session of Purple Grass International Peace Studies Summer Training Camp, and rang the Bell of Peace in the Public Memorial Square. “The exhibition hall of historical documents and the bell-ringing ceremony has left us with deep impressions, and we were also very moved,” said the students.
The majority of these young Italians are in their mid-20s. Their visit was very serious and shock gradually appeared on their facial expression.

After that, a presentation entitled "Peace Building in a Globalized World" was given to the students by Professor Liu Cheng of School of History at Nanjing University, who is also the Chair holder of UNESCO Chair on Peace Studies.

In the end, Zhang Jianjun, curator of the Memorial, exchanged with Italian students on historical changes in Sino-Japanese relations, the care for survivors of the Nanjing Massacre, and the future concept of venue operation; and issued them a certificate of completion.

Curator Zhang Jianjun said: “Our work revolves around the Memorial’s philosophy of ‘remember history’ and ‘cherish peace’. The Memorial not only attaches great importance to the education of the audience, but also to the popularization of history studies. At the same time, the Memorial is also a school for peace education.”
Hope that everyone become an ambassador of peace.
