Memorial Hall Volunteers Wanted
The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders is a thematic memorial hall designed to show visitors the historical truth behind the Nanjing Massacre. It is also where the national memorial ceremony for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre is held every year. As a national demonstration base for patriotic education and a national first-class museum, the Memorial Hall plays a significant role in spreading a memory of the world and educating the public on cherishing peace through an encounter with history.
Committed to delivering better services to the public, the Memorial Hall is currently recruiting volunteers to help us with that effort. If you’re interested in our work and volunteer services, we’d love to have you on our team!
Requirements
(I) Individual volunteers
1. Loving, passionate, communicative, and committed to serving others;
2. Fluent in Putonghua, or Mandarin Chinese;
3. Chinese or foreigners who live, work or study in Nanjing on a long-term basis, aged between 18 and 65, and healthy in both body and mind;
4. Work a minimum of one four-hour shift a week.
(II) Volunteer groups
1. Enterprises and public institutions, colleges and universities in Nanjing, among others;
2. Comply with the Memorial Hall’s volunteer service policy;
3. Have a minimum of 20 yearly active volunteers on average.
Volunteer Roles
(I) Exhibit Oral Guide (20 needed)
Job: Interpreting exhibits and giving tours at the Memorial Hall.
Requirements: Have good communication skills and be able to cope with unexpected situations. A background in broadcasting and hosting or history teaching is welcome, but not necessary.
(II) Directions Volunteer (40 needed)
Job: Showing visitors around the Memorial Hall and answering their questions.
Requirements: Be interested in the Memorial Hall’s work, enthusiastic and ready to help visitors.
(III) Little Peace Ambassadors (20 needed)
Job: Interpreting exhibits at the Memorial Hall and taking part in peace education activities.
Requirements: Aged between 12 and 16, healthy in both body and mind, have good communication skills. Must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the process of volunteering.
Procedure
Application: From today through to August 20
Notification: August 21 to 27
Interview: September 2 to 3
Training and Assessment: September 4 to 28
Qualified candidates will start working on September 29 (If accepted, you will become a formal volunteer for a year)

Special Reminder
1. The Memorial Hall does not charge any type of fee or entrust any organization to provide training throughout the recruitment process;
2. The Memorial Hall will call eligible applicants for an interview. Qualified candidates will start working after passing the interview, training and assessment.
