During the Chinese Spring Festival holiday, approximately 222,000 visitors from around the world came to the Memorial Hall for tours. Many foreign visitors traveled long distances to visit. They left messages expressing that only after visiting did they truly understand this period of history, empathizing with it, and that the Memorial Hall prompted them to reflect on war and peace.

A visitor from the UK commented:“A brilliantly curated and thought-provoking museum. I thought it sensitively depicted the horrifying events and then finished with a message of hope and moving forward.Thank you!”

A visitor from Germany remarked:“There is so much not known about this (the Nanjing Massacre) since we usually focus on Europe in the 20th century. It was really interesting to learn more about this.”

A visitor from Chile left the message: “The blood of the victims will not be forgotten. We all carryit in our chests and our hearts pump with the pain of those who suffered.”
