Nearly 200,000 People Visited the Memorial Hall during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Holiday
During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, the Memorial Hall received about 200,000 visitors. Of them, 730 were foreigners from the Republic of Korea, Japan, and other countries and regions. Sabieh from Pakistan left a message before leaving. “It serves as a symbol of the need to acknowledge past atrocities, promote peace and prevent such horrors from happening again. Peace for all.” Sudeepti Mundirinti from India and Gandhish Irvidhesh Singh from Mauritius are students at Nanjing Medical University. They have been studying and living in Nanjing for five years. Sudeepti Mundirinti was very shocked when she first learned about the history of the Nanjing Massacre from a Chinese classmate. On October 5, they visited the Memorial Hall for the second time, and had a more thorough understanding of that history. “Why fight at all?” they sighed during their visit.
