488 Foreigners visited the Memorial Hall during the May Day Holiday
During the May Day holiday, a total of 78,616 people visited the Memorial Hall. Of them, 488 were foreign visitors, from 14 countries and regions including the Republic of Korea, Japan, the US, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
To provide better services for the visitors during the holiday, the Memorial Hall opened earlier but closed later, and allowed the elderly, children and people with disabilities who are accompanied by an adult to visit the museum upon on-site reservation and registration.
“I’m very sad. It’s horrible to imagine how it must have been for Chinese people during that time, but also positive to see how the overarching message is for peace to go forward and advance peacefully with each other” a visitor from the UK said after visiting the Memorial Hall.
“It’s great that the Memorial Hall improves its management and offers on-site registration services to vulnerable groups. This not only ensures them easy access to its exhibitions, but also allows more people to receive patriotic education,” said a Chinese visitor surnamed Cui. “With an influx of visitors during the five-day holiday, the Memorial Hall extended its opening hours in a timely manner. The on-site registration services for vulnerable groups are worth our praise. It’s an indication of the Memorial Hall’s people-centered management and superb services,” another visitor named Sun Jianzhi said.
