The Memorial Hall Launched a Series of Micro Videos Called "Watch the Survivors"
Recently, the Memorial Hall released the 11th, 12th and 13th episodes of the "Watch the Survivors" series, which told the stories of survivors Guo Linda, Guan Shunhua and Huang Guilan respectively.
Guo Linda is 92 years old. During the Nanjing Massacre, the Japanese soldiers killed the brother of Guo’s grandpa, his daughter-in-law and an employee of his. The Japanese soldiers even killed his cattle. "They killed people from the beginning of the day and killed four men with saber. They threw the bodies in a pit and continued to tie another ten..." Guo Linda recalled that he fled to his grandmother's home, lived few days, and the Japanese soldiers came. His grandma was raped, and the village was bombed. Guo hid in the mountains and survived. When recalling, Guo Linda’s voice was trembling, with eyes moist. He was only seven years old at the time—an innocent age, but he was going through life's purgatory. Now Guo Linda had three great-grandchildren. All his life, he believed that people should be honest and behaved themselves.
Guan is 97 years old. She recalled that during the Nanjing Massacre, her uncle Guan Zhichun went to the Zhongyang Gate and encountered Japanese soldiers. He was killed by them with saber. "His hands were scratched and they had shed such much blood. His head was cut off and was never found. What a poor man!" The father of Guan’s husband, worried about the family’s cattle, returned home and was killed after being found by Japanese soldiers. Guan Shunhua was a hard-working lady all her life. Now she lives with her daughter and is able to take care of herself. She gets up around 6 o 'clock in the morning in summer. She hopes that people will cherish a peaceful life and young people will study hard.
