Together, They Lit up the Zijin Grass Night
On March 4, the Memorial Hall held the "Zijin Grass Volunteers Sharing Meeting and the Launching Ceremony of Zijin Grass Cultural Dissemination Envoys" to commend outstanding volunteers and thank them for their devotion.
Zijin Grass volunteers provide the visitors with explanation, civil guidance, translation and interpretation, public performance and other services all year round, making silent contributions to spreading the historictruth of the Nanjing Massacre and the concept of peace. In 2021, a total of 312 volunteers provided 5,272 times of volunteer services for visitors at the Memorial Hall, with a total of 26,360 hours.
Among these volunteers is a special group of more than 300 Zijin Grass international volunteers from more than 30 countries such as the United States, South Korea and Pakistan. They tell the world about the history of the Nanjing Massacre through many ways including explanations, social media and video making.
Jonathan from the United States joined the MemorialHall's international volunteer team in January 2020. He first learned about Nanjing as a child in a documentary about World War II. He said that after coming to Nanjing for many years, every visit to the Memorial Hall was deeply shocking. "Many details can only be known after visiting the Memorial Hall." He said.
Shiweva from Namibia had been in Nanjing for six years. She fell deeply in love with the city. She opened a personal YouTube channel to introduce the Memorial Hall and the history of the Nanjing Massacre.
