On December 13, the Eighth National Memorial Ceremony for Nanjing Massacre Victims was held. In the name of our nation, we mourned the victims of the Nanjing Massacre.

8:00 The National Flag Was Raised and Flown at Half-mast.

The Public Memorial Square held the ceremony of raising and lowering the national flag at half-mast. In the loud and clear national song, the national flag of the People's Republic of China was slowly raised, and was slowly lowered. In the name of our nation, we mourned the victims of the Nanjing Massacre.

10:00 National Memorial Ceremony

2021 National Memorial Ceremony for Nanjing Massacre Victims was held at the Memorial Hall. More than 3,000 representatives from all walks of life stood in silence with white flowers on their chests.

At 10 o 'clock, the ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem of the People's Republic of China. At the end of the national anthem, the audience paid silent tribute to the victims of the Nanjing Massacre. At this moment, the city of Nanjing sounded the air defense sirens, and when sirens sounded, people stood in silence for a minute.

When the silence ended, 16 soldiers from the PLA's Ceremonial battalion laid eight wreaths on the public altar, in the tune of "National Memorial Music" performed by the PLA Military Band.

Later, Sun Chunlan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council delivered an important speech. After the speech, 84 representatives of Nanjing teenagers read the Declaration of Peace. Six representatives from all walks of life rang the "Bell of Peace". Accompanied by three deep bells, 3,000 doves of peace flew high into the sky, expressing the Chinese nation's endless mourning for the dead and its hope for world peace.

15:00 World Peace Rite

At 15:00, the “World Peace Rite" was held in front of the Victims List Wall (Wall of Tears) of the Memorial Hall. Representatives of religious circles and believers in Nanjing chanted sutras in unison, praying for world peace.

17:30 Candlelight Vigil · International Peace Rally

At 17:30, "2021 Candlelight Vigil · International Peace Rally" was held at the Memorial Square of the Memorial Hall. Representatives of Nanjing Massacre survivors descendants, medical staff representatives, grassroots Party member representatives of the CPC, student representatives, and monks gathered here to light candles, mourning the dead and praying for peace.

Many international friends could not attend this year's candlelight vigil due to the epidemic. The Memorial Hall for the first time attempted to use 5G, ice screen, virtual 3D character animation and other technologies combining online and offline to facilitate the on-site and off-site space interactions. Our international friend John Magee's descendant Chris Magee, Japanese friend Matsuoka Tamaki and other friends sent videos to us. "Since 2001, I have been visiting survivors of the Nanjing Massacre through the 'Comfort the Mind' campaign. I was unable to go there for the past two years due to the epidemic. Although I wrote letters to the survivors, it was a pity I couldn't see them. It must have been a difficult day for the survivors of the near-death experience of the Nanjing Massacre and the hardships that followed. I sincerely wish them a long and healthy life. We sincerely hope for a peaceful world and a world without war. "In addition, many students from universities and primary schools in and outside Nanjing held candles at their locations to pray for world peace.
