Text Messages Contained the Memorial’s Concerns and Best Wishes for Descendants of Our International Friends
A group of 300 Chinese intensive care doctors arrived in Italy, with tons of medical supplies. The banner says: “We are waves from the same sea, leaves from the same tree, flowers from the same garden.” THANK YOU, CHINA.
This is a text message sent from Chris Magee, grandson of our international friend John Magee, to the memorial hall.
He also retweeted a photo of the medical team on his personal social media.

"The Coronavirus is highly infectious. I wish you and your family all the best," curator Zhang Jianjun texted in a reply to Mr. Magee.
Best Wishes to Descendants of Our International Friends
Recently, the COVID-19 pandemic has spread rapidly around the world.
Since its outbreak, we have been concerned about the health and safety of descendants of our international friends on the other side of the Pacific Ocean. Recently, our memorial hall arranged specific staff to contact with the descendants of the international friends who helped the refugees in Nanjing during the wartime, to inquire about the local situation and express our willingness to support them at any time.
"My daughter and I are doing well and we have adequate food supplies,” Magee texted.
"We are very concerned about the health of you and your family, as well as the health of all our friends. We will do our best to provide anything you need from us, as we are a family," replied curator Zhang.
The Friendship between Nanjing and the Magee Family
During the Nanjing Massacre, John Magee risked his life staying in Nanjing to film the Japanese atrocities with a 16mm camera. They are the only moving images of the Nanjing Massacre ever found.
In 2017, Chris Magee travelled to Nanjing, visiting and filming the people and places that had appeared in his grandfather's images. Grandfather and grandson, one filmed destruction, and the other filmed rebirth. They have used their cameras to record Nanjing, witnessing its history, present and future.
