Let’s Not Forget About Them
They are victims of “comfort women” system by Japanese invaders, being insulted in their youth by those invaders. Their life should have been beautiful but in reality faded without blooming.
In 2019, five victims of “comfort women” system passed away. Although having left us, they would always keep an eye on this episode of history, waiting for the arrival of justice.
Wei Shaolan (1920.7-2019.5.5)
Born in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region
During the winter in 1944, Wei Shaolan was snatched away by Japanese invaders at the age of twenty-four. She suffered from inhuman torture in the comfort station for three months during which period she got pregnant. After escaping from the station, she gave birth to a baby named Luo Shanxue. Due to prejudice, Luo Shanxue never married but lived with mom all along.
Tang Genzhen (1920-2019.5.9)
Born in Yueyang, Hunan Province
At the turn of spring and summer in 1939, Japanese soldiers invaded Matang county in Yueyang where Tang Genzhen, being nineteen years’ old, was captured by them. She was sent into the comfort station, leaving her with sufferings and humiliations. Her arm was broken and she was forced to drink contraception decoction, being infertile as a consequence. She finally escaped from the comfort station after four years’ torture by Japanese invaders.
A Grandma from Jinhua (1926-2019.6.2)
Born in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province
At the age of sixteen, Japanese invaders rushed into the village, seized her away while she was taking a nap and then locker her up in a Japanese foothold. A month later, she was rescued by a group of armed revolutionary soldiers led by Mr. Xu after midnight. Unfortunately, she was captured by Japanese invaders a week later while buying something. This time, she was taken to Zhongshan dock, one of Japanese footholds, and to a comfort station subsequently, being tortured by Japanese invaders for three years.
Yang Guilan (1920-2019.8.21)
Born in Tongcheng, Hubei province
Yang Guilan was dragged away from her mother’s home in Tongcheng and then locked in a nearby ancestral temple. Getting to know her capture, her relatives asked help from other people and rescued her from the talons of Japanese invaders safter ten days of suffering.
Chen Meiying (1926.4.13-2019.12.13)
Born in Liuyang, Hunan Province
At the turn of spring and summer in 1944, being eighteen years old, Chen Meiying was grabbed away by Japanese invaders into a private residency. She was humiliated and tortured by them for 28 days. When the Japanese army rested and reorganized in Sifen, Liling city, Chen Meiying was too sick to walk. Later on, with the help from other kind people, she got rid of the invaders and then was carried back home by her family.
