"When the Japanese soldiers came, my mother escaped to the Guli county with my sisters, and we came back a week later. My sister and I shaved all our hair, walked in rags and dressed as boys, and often hid in the cellar.

Two women in the village, one called Chengzi, one called Xingzi, were sisters-in-law, both at their twenties. They hid in the cellar with 5 other people, but only to be found by a few Japanese soldiers. The Japanese soldiers smoked them out, gang- raped them , and killed all the 7 people.

Many Chinese soldiers were marched by Japanese soldiers to Qiaogezhuang and got killed with machine guns. There were a few lucky ones not dead but wounded. My uncle, aunt and my mother carried back 7 that had not yet expired from the dead, hid them into a remote pit, and gave them rice and water. However, they all died of bad injury and my uncle buried all these people on the spot."
