Famous Painter Li Bin Share the Experience and Inspiration of the Tokyo Trial
This year marks the 71st anniversary of the judgement pronouncing of the Tokyo Trial. A few days ago, the documentary panorama painting exhibition of Tokyo Trial is being held in the Three Invincibles (San’ge Bisheng) Exhibition Hall of our Memorial. The painting is led by Mr.Li Bin, a famous painter and a specially invited researcher of the Research Institute for War Trials and World Peace of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
On October 18, at 3 pm, the 8th session of Purple Grass Peace Lectures will invite Li Bin to tell the story of his four and a half years' work.
In world history, the Tokyo trials, together with the earlier Nuremberg trials, have set a precedent for punishing those who started the war, and it is of epoch-making significance. In the verdict of the Tokyo trial court, two special chapters have given verdict entitled "Attack on Nanjing" and "Nanjing Massacre" for the Nanjing Massacre crimes of the invading Japanese soldiers.
The painter Li Bin adopted documentary panorama to show those who participated in the Tokyo trial of more than 450 people, including judges, prosecutors, defendants, defense attorneys, witnesses, court staff and other figures. The total number is 633, plus the repeated characters. The painting is 172 meters long and 4 meters tall.
