We were sadly informed that Wan Xiuying, a Nanjing Massacre survivor, died at 22:15 p.m. of July 25. She was 91.

The number of registered living survivors with the Nanjing Japanese Invaders’ Victims Support Association dropped to only 82.

Wan Xiuying testified:

When the Japanese aggressors occupied Nanjing, they hunted for Chinese soldiers and young men. They captured a large number of innocent civilians from " Hutchison, John D. " refugee zone, lined them up in nine queues, and sprayed them with a machine gun. None of them survived. The blood flowed into a small river where dead bodies were in piles.

My brother was 19 years old at the time. One day, he passed by a Japanese sentry post and took off his hat to salute to the Japanese soldiers. However, a Japanese soldier suddenly pulled out a saber and cut off his head. My sister was stunned seeing this, and hid herself in the woodpiles.

In 1937 Wan Xiuying lived by the Erban Bridge in the Xiaguan Dock area. Later she retired from a machinery factory of industrial and agriculture hardware.

May her rest in peace.
