Family letter of She Ziqin (Excerpts)
Dearest mother:
How have you been far away in the Heaven? Today, I took the family here for the family memorial ceremony of the Memorial Hall. I offered you a bunch of flowers, lightened a stick of incense, and I hope your spirit in the sky will be relieved!
Mother, last night, I met you again in the dream. You are still so dignified and generous in the dream, you smiled at me, which was like the warmest sunshine in the cold winter day... I miss you, mother!
I’m getting older now as well, and my memory is not as good as it used to be. But the painful experience 79 years ago was branded in the deepest part of my heart.
A warm and harmonious family was ruthlessly destroyed overnight. The Japanese army cruelly killed you. I was only five years old then. My elder sister and I survived because we escaped to the US Embassy at “No. 33 Xikang Road, Nanjing”. Every time I think of this, my heart will be deeply stung……
Dear mother, have you seen it? The city of sadness in the past – Nanjing, now is floating with clouds of peace in the sky. On both sides of the Qinhuai River are numerous flowers, please be rest in the Heaven! With the bell ring of the Peace Bell, I wish the Dove of Peace bring our miss and hopes to the sky!

Qiu Xiuying: I can never forget the falling figure of my mother
Qiu Xiuying was born on April 5, 1930, who is now living in Xinhe First Village, Gulou District.
Qiu Xiuying’s mother died under the gun of the Japanese army 79 years ago. The old man sometimes sees her mother in the dream, but only wakes up to find that the pillow and the quilt corner are already soaked.

At this year's family fete ceremony, the total 11 people of Qiu Xiuying family were present. In the eyes of the aged Qiu, experience is the best teacher, and it is responsible for generations and generations to inherit the historical memory.

The aged Qiu Xiuying offered the incense to the victims.

Family letter of Qiu Xiuying
Dearest mother:
I can't forget, 79 years ago when the last time I saw you, you were hit by the Japanese army’s guns and then left us forever.
Sometimes I can still see you in my dreams, but only wake up to find the pillow soaked in tears. You have already left me, I have tasted the pain of missing, but I do not want my descendants to repeat my mistakes.
Probably only those who have experienced the cruelty of war are more eager for peace. This is the third national memorial ceremony for the victims of the Nanjing Massacre.
Today, the country has become prosperous and strong, and it will no longer be bullied. The country is gradually realizing the national rejuvenation and is also realizing the Chinese dream of this generation. May the motherland prosper, and the world peace will last forever!

Student Liu Manqi of Xincheng Primary School

At the scene of the family memorial ceremony, 30 students from Xincheng Primary School also participated in the event.
On behalf of the students, Liu Mang said on the stage: "When I was very young, my mom and dad took me to the Memorial Hall. I was shocked by the sculpture of the "Mother and Son" at the door. My mother told me that it is only an epitome of thousands of victimized families. Innocent people lost their homes and beloved ones, which further indicates that the motherland has been bullied by foreign enemies. We youth is the future and hope of the motherland. We must study hard, take history as a guide, and shoulder the responsibility of reviving the great Chinese dream. ”

The names of the victims engraved on the "Crying Wall" were engraved in the hearts of every visitor like a blade.
This is the memorial activity with family as the unit on the eve of the third National Memorial Day. We hope that through the holding of the family memorial activities, historical memory can be passed down from generation to generation.
Blood and tears of the motherland will never be forgotten!
